The anticipation is finally over; Da Drought 3 is here and Lil'
Wayne lives up to all the hype surrounding this mixtape. He's
so heavy in the mixtape game right now (he's always puttin' shit
out), its kinda hard to believe that he created such a buzz with
the release of this tape, but I guess that's just Lil' Wayne
for you.
Da Drought 3 is a two-disc mixtape with Wayne flowing over
some well-known beats including "Throw Some D's...", "Walk
It Out", "I Luv It"…I think you get the
picture. Weezy sticks to the formula of rapping about himself,
money, weed, women, and a bunch of other shit that sometimes
really doesn't make any sense, but it works. No matter what he's
talking about, his flow is always on point and he straight up
kills some of the beats he hops on. On Disc One, most of the
tracks are pretty hot. I like the "We Takin' Over (Remix)",
and hopefully you've already heard "Dough Is What I Got",
but that shit is still fire. I like "New Cash Money" as
him and Brisco flow over "Down And Out", but when Wayne
gets on "Top Back", its lights out. He wasn't lyin'
when he said, "…put this bitch to sleep, fuckin'
right I nightgowned it".
Wayne keeps things movin' right along on Disc Two, flowing
over the trunk rattler "King Kong" and doing some justice
for Lil' Boosie's "Zoom". He kills "Shoulder Lean" with
his version "Live From The 504" and I'm feelin' the "Its
Me Bitches (Remix)", but his "…words carry life
like a stretcher" (haha) when he rips "Santana's Town". I'm not the biggest Weezy fan in the world, but I gotta give
credit where credit is due, I mean he's kind of a beast. Even
though a lot of the time he's not really saying anything, his
flow is crazy and some of his punch lines are hilarious. Overall,
I like this mixtape. Wayne brings life to some of the beats he's
rapping over and the whole thing just bangs. I could've done
without some of the tracks including him rapping over "Promise" and "Crazy" but
I definitely recommend you cop this tape. Peace. |
